If someone would have told me I would be sitting here on my bed with my newborn baby at 36 weeks I would have called them crazy. I never would have thought I would caught stomach flu then have to go through the delight of my second baby being born premature.

And yet, here I am sitting here with my new baby boy, feeling joy, and pain, and overwhelmingly like well shit, I was not ready. You can read my first post on premature labor here. And to be honest my first tried to come at 31 weeks , the hospital stopped that birth. This time there was no stopping.
So, if you read the blog post you would have seen that I was sent home Saturday Jan 27th. Due to no further dialation and my water had not broke. I went home with a feeling I that I would be back.
The next morning, after a sleepless night of pain, I got up decided to do laundry and order some groceries for delivery. While in the kitchen, that is when it happened, my water broke. And no it isn’t like the movies, where you water breaks, there is this massive drama and then a baby in the hallway? You sometimes have a while. So after it broke I calmly packed my bag, woke my hubby, who was still sick, and called my mom to have her take me to the hospital. And unlike last time I brought more essentials.
I got my hospital room back, and then after tests confirmed it was my water that broke, an epidural was ordered. I was now waiting for my little. After about an hour or so there was no change, a round of pottussem was administered via iv. By 1:15 I had my little boy. And now we are deep in that premie life.I am happy, my little, although 4 weeks early, is healthy and happy. We got discharged 24 hours later. If there was anything to be learned, it is watch out for stomach flu when pregnant. It can make you go into labor. And don’t get discouraged if your premie wont bf,use that breast pump like the Motiff I mentioned here. Or, formula. Also, expect the saline swell. I was so swollen in my legs, feet, hands, and face. All those fluids.

Congratulations! He’s truly beautiful and that little chin is so adorable!! So glad to hear you’re feeling better too! 🙂
Thank you cara!!
Congratulations! He looks a good size for four weeks premature. I can totally relate to what you went through because my waters broke at 33 weeks and I was induced at 35. The bit in between was hell – I hate hospitals! I hope you’re feeling ok and getting some rest.

He really is. I shudder when I think about how big he would be at 40 weeks. He was 18 inches long. And 6lbs 13 oz. I would probably have to have a c section . But he was a tiny thing at 36 weeks. So I dogded the bullet.
Congratulations! He is absolutely gorgeous and you look beautiful too! My son was also born at 36 weeks because I developed severe pre-eclampsia and he spent 4 weeks in the special care unit at hospital. It was such a stressful time for all of us. It’s truly amazing what we go through as mother’s, isn’t it?! I hope you and your baby are doing well now and I wish you much good health and happiness! 🙂 XXX
It really is! We go through a lot! Thank you!
Congratulations on your little sweetheart! I am so glad he is happy and healthy! And you look amazing for just having given birth!
Thank you laura! We are so happy he is doing great! I was worried a bit when in the hospital and his blood sugar wasn’t stable. It was really low.
Thank goodness mommy and baby are both okay, even if he did come early! You are both precious! Thanks so much for linking up!
Thank you! I am glad about that too, I was worried so much for him.
Aww congratulations Stephanie, so lovely to see you both 🙂 Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays, you will be one of my featured blogs later today as I am starting the hop early this week 🙂
Thank you so much Claire!!
Oh my goodness, Stephanie! What a story! I am so glad that you are both home and healthy and doing well…jiggly feet and all. My first one came at 35 weeks, my water broke during dinner with my sister and her family, and the little guy arrived at 2:30 in the morning weighing in at nearly 7 pounds! So I was kind of glad he came early, but it definitely had its challenges. Congratulations, my friend, and get as much rest as you can!
