I love a good tulle skirt it is no secret. I love these kinds of clothing pieces. They can be completely dressed up and dressed down to ultra casual. Today I am mixing it all up. The glamorous shiny H&M top, the tulle skirt from Charlotte Russe, and some COACH sneakers. Lets mix it up, lets have fun. Fashion should be exciting and fun! But the trick is getting it right. Finding that balance of daytime glitz for an outfit.
The concept isn’t anything new, a lot of other bloggers have done it. Yeah, I know. It has been done and done well. I just want to talk about it again here. Actually this is my second time wearing these tennis shoes with this skirt. Isn’t that funny? I think so, I forgot about that until now. So many outfits and so little brain space to remember them all. OK, So for the sake of today’s blog post. Let’s focus on taking those more formal pieces and make them shine down. P.s. Yu can check out that original post here.
This top from H&M is one I fell in love with at first sight. When I first spotted it during an online maternity shopping session, it was in the maternity section. Guess what? This isn’t a maternity shirt. It is a non maternity item. This shiny fabric is beautiful and I love how it also looks with jeans. I have seen people style sequin tops of silver with white pleated skirts, so I thought why not do that with this shiny shirt and with a tulle skirt instead. The result was marvelous!
I kept the outfit on the simpler side by no additional accessories, other than my COACH bag. This was a gift from hubby after I had my son 4 years ago. I didn’t add bracelets, nor did I add a necklace to this outfit. I think with the shiny shoes and things it would be too much. And yes sometimes more and more works and sometimes it just doesn’t. Another way I toned down the ultra formal vibes of this look is the shoes. There we go the sneakers. These comfy COACH shoes make the look more fun and more accessible for those who can not wear heels, but love sneakers. Now a few years ago you would never have caught me wearing sneakers outside of walking the 3 miles I did every day. You would never have seen me pick shoes like this based on style and not functionality. This time was completely different.
So, what gives? Well, I saw these online and they were on sale at the time. And I knew they had to be mine. Granted these are not the running shoes you are looking for Obi Wan. No, these aren’t going to help you run after those droids. But what they will give you is comfort and fashion cred. They will in deed do that. You can walk miles in them alright.(I did in Letchworth)
These sneakers are a great addition to my massive shoe collection. I do mean massive shoe collection. I love the mix of leathers of these shoes and the nylon fabrics. The colors suit my eclectic sense of style too. Plus being one with the bump, means I can not always wear heels and with these hips being horrible I can only wear heels for so long before the flats make their way back out and on to my feet.
Steal my style!
