The no makeup problem.

Imagine if you will a hectic crazy Monday morning. You woke up late, you have a very upset and snotty 2yr old, a husband that can’t find something, and there isn’t enough coffee in the whole USA for you to get your shirt together and get moving. Welcome to my most manic Monday. I had an unhappy allergy ridden child and everything else just was utter chaos. I had appointments for him to go to the dr and get everyone out of the house on time. My outfit was simple; t shirt, jeans, sandals, and my hair well forget it. My thought process was get home intime for some benedryl and naps.IMG_5270.JPG

The benedryl being for me because holy mother of Legolas I am drying from pollen invasion! I didn’t wear makeup, I forgot to brush my hair, I barely drank my coffee that morning. My son’s hair was a mess. Oh well. We are human right? We are allowed no makeup days right? Right? No?

Picture it a waiting room full of people and you get asked ” Did you just wake up?”

*imagine breaks screeching here* WOW. “what?”

“did you just roll out of bed and come here?”

NO I didn’t I had been up since 6:30 AM. That had been comments all day where ever I went. Begs me to ask the question. Did I really look that bad?

I wasn’t feeling good myself, makeup was the last thing on my mind. I was more concerned with getting my baby to the doctor and on time. So, makeup was not a priority, I am lucky I was wearing matching clothes. MY Hogwarts shirt was no where to be found, and you all know me, my hair usually comes last. Makeup on fleek and wild and crazy hair. That’s me.  We all have our quircks. I was also asked if my son just woke up too. But nope, he was determined to not let mama brush his hair today. So he had Harry Potter hair. Give him a bolt scar and some circular specs and he could go to Hogwarts.

People can say “No makeup your beautiful without it.” And when we don’t wear the makeup that is when we get the ” You just wake up?” “You feeling ok?” “Did you just get out of bed and come out?” “you sick?”Such a double standard isn’t it? For some of us, it makes us feel put together. Makes us feel good  alive looking(if you are me and are a vampire*) However, are the comments necessary ? I knew my hair looked like I was a maniac and needed a padded room . I knew I needed lipstick and my skin was red and blotchy in places(sick hello) I didn’t need the reminders from perfect strangers.

I wear makeup for me. Because I like it. Yes, I am totally vain. I will be the first to jump up and admit it with hands in the air because I don’t care that I am vain. We all have some form of vanity. I wear the makeup and the hair extensions because it makes me feel good and gives me confidence. And makes me feel like I can conquer my day.

I have gone whole days without makeup before sometimes you just need a break.  I guess when I decide to not wear makeup I should just stay in the Batcave and never leave the house.

So question of the day is this:  Have you experienced this? really makes you think. Sorry for the rant. Just had a long day.

*I was called a vampire not too long ago because I guess I am THAT pale.” Wow, I didn’t know vampires could be out in the sunlight.” Ouch….at least I didn’t start sparkling. Maybe I should carry around glitter”

Yes! I experience this all the time! Our society is engrained to think that you are only beautiful when you have a full face of makeup and your hair is done, and I sometimes wish it were different. I’m like you though I do feel more confident with makeup but at the same token I’ve learned to love myself makeup free and I wish the rest of the world would jump on board with that too.

Awww I’m sorry 🙁 People shouldn’t have asked such rude questions! I hate it when people act like that.

And I totally know what you mean by being called a vampire – I’ve gotten that too. I’m really not very pale, though. haha
