Well friends it would seem the Atlantic Ocean decided to take a sacrifice today. My beloved smart phone. Yes, what was a great day went all weird and crazy once the ocean decided it would be better with my phone in it. I wish I had pictures of the day. Oh well.
The day started out with a traditional stop at Dunkin donuts. I mean what day at the beach wouldn’t start there for me. This is me we are talking about and I definitely run on Dunkin. One French vanilla with extra extra later we were on the road to the beach.
We get to New Smyrna and wouldn’t you know it there is a detour on the exact road we need. They tore up the whole road! Nothing but dirt. Huzzah. Driving along we found the detour and our real journey begins.
It was all off road type stuff from here. They tore up every road on the way to the beach. And let me say everyone was as confused as we were. Thanks GPS. Thanks a whole lot. I had to actually read signs…ugh. (It wasn’t that bad.) turn here, turn there, drive throughout this unmarked road that looks blocked off but isn’t?
We finally got to where we needed to be and thank God, because I was getting grumpy and concered about being lost.
The beach was kind of quiet and we got a nice parking spot right on the beach near the exit. Weekdays are the best time to go if you can. And I got photos of our cloudy day. The water was really moving and rip tides were a problem, but hey we saw dolphins. No pictures..since I uh dropped my phone.(I’m sure I’ll get to them once I turn the phone back on.) it works but not well.
So that brings me to my phone. My cute little Samsung Galaxy s4. It was red. It was good, it is now full of salt and sand. What happened was my tiny child was playing in the sand and splash puddles. When he got up the courage to go into the small waves. I had been behind him earlier in the day and held on to him. He went off on his own. At first they were small waves, so I grabbed my phone and started taking pictures of him playing in ocean . Then BOOM and SWISH. There he went, he got knocked down face first with water rushing over him and my instinct was “grab baby”. So I did. I dropped my phone and grabbed my little soggy and upset kid out of the water. While some how rescuing my phone in the process. The camera was cracked. The phone was soaked. But, that didn’t matter until later. I just wanted to get the tiny child on our beach blanket and make him happy again. Which 3 Cheetos later And a pat on the back he was off running around and getting into mischief. But the phone, crap I dropped my phone. Salt water like that is so corrosive. And it took its toll. The Atlantic wanted payment for our play time. And it took it. It likes phones. The ocean claims at least one or two phones from my father each year. As well as his glasses.
So, what happened? Well friends.. I got a new phone. The Samsung Galaxy s6. The camera is amazing. And it is a pretty phone. I got the gold edition. Which looks like glass. And yes, I will keep this phone in a case.
I ordered a pretty pink hybrid case. Eventually I will get a waterproof case for the beach, etc. Lesson learned folks. Lesson learned.
I got my new phone from Best Buy, and my new case is on order from Accessorygeeks.com. They ship fast and are reasonable in price when it come to cases. I also got the screen protector HD. I buy all of my cases from them, since they tend to have some nice cases. When I was at Best Buy I also got a $100 gift card for the phone and used half on the phone and the other half on my hubby’s Father’s Day gift. Witcher 3.
Got to love broken phones.
