Styling a power outfit, wow that can be tricky. I think we should all have that ONE outfit that makes us feel like a boss lady. We all need that outfit that is a bit aggressive, a bit over the top, and oh so elegant in a way. Yes, there is the “power suit” but what about those if us who do NOT have one? A power suit that is. My hand is raised. I don’t have one. Weird I know. But everyone is so casual here in the Sunshine state, so casual. That power outfits must take place of the power suit of the business world. Even if you are a SAHM, you should have one. I have a few and this one is a new one.

And today I needed it. Here is a story, pull up an Ice block and lend an ear.

power outfit of the day

Today, I needed that outfit that screams “get shit done”. Why? Well, I had offices to argue with, on behalf of my wee one. His therapy is on hold and he needs ABA, and I couldn’t get a hold of ANYONE. SO, today I wanted to feel powerful. I wanted to have that bit of confidence. That confidence that will keep my head level when dealing with people who maybe not want to be at work on a Monday. But after a week of trying calling and emailing, I felt OK. If I have to go into the office I wanted them to know I meant business. And this outfit with this gorgeous gold pleated skirt from Zaful and cold shoulder shirt from EXPRESS was my ticket.

Even though it was handled on email, i still felt confident that I got things done like the Boss lady that I am. That you ARE!  So what makes a Power outfit? Well, pieces that stand out yet but that are also Classic. Take my outfit for example

pleated-skirt-and-cold-shoulder

It has a great skirt that is a metallic gold skirt with a black hue. And that is the trend of the season. Metallics. And this skirt draws attention. And those golden pleats do that ever so nicely. Matched with a cold shoulder shirt that shows you know your trends but also have a bit of sexiness without over doing it. There is a feminine quality of that, like this shirt I got a few years ago from EXPRESS. It is such a great shirt, and I will link to something similar. But pieces like this don’t need much in accessories. Why? With skirts like this too much jewelry takes it from being a day time look(in my humble opinion) and yanks it right on into holiday party and promville.

Metallic skirt trend

Yes, it can get that direction very quickly. These pieces added with some nice leopard printed shoes like these that remind me of the Sam Edelman shoes are great and add a bit of casualness it needs, but also interest. And then a basic bag. There power outfit done!

And by the way, $10000 a month for ABA?! WOW! without insurance…..just wow.

This is definitely my kind of power suit! Gorgeous, classy and not boring! You look amazing! I am so happy you were able to get things figured out for your son’s care. Family is so important!
