If you have been following my blog, you will have seen my post on what to take in your hospital bag here, and then I had my little one early. My little baby boy was born early at 36 weeks and since he is a preemie, he has trouble breast feeding, so we use the bottle. And so, I pump breast milk for my little using my Motif Duo breast pump.
And that is not all I use, there are so many things that I need for a comfortable time pumping for my little. More than just a great pump, like the Motif Duo. I needed a few personal care items, for me to make things easier and less stressful. Things that I wish I had used last time when I was trying to pump and breast feed my first born.
Let’s take a look at my pumping must haves. And some of these things work for breast feeding and some formula feeding too. The Boppy Pillow, for instance, is great for bottle feeding as well as breast feeding, and for tummy time. And if mom needs a quick napping pillow for her! Even if you formula feed, you can still use a Boppy Pillow! I did when we fed my first born bottles with formula and or breast milk. It isn’t just for breast feeding!
Lasinoh Lanolin ointment! You need this whether you pump or breast feed. It helps with chapped nipples(OUCH) and moisturizes, its safe for baby. And you can pretty much get this stuff anywhere with a baby section. This ointment is also a must for just general breast feeding.
Lasinoh 3 in 1 Breast therapy pads, I wanted something like this before with my first son, but only had a refrigeration pads. I had to use hot rags for engorgement. With these pads you can use them hot or cold. Both are great. I am so happy I got these. They are a must have!
You need things to store the milk. And I hate the bags!!! I spill the contents every time. The vials are so much better, and they can be frozen. Not only that, but they are reusable!!! And speaking of reusable, breast pads are a great thing to have in your bag! I got the rewashable kind. They are soft and more seamless than the throw away kinds!
And then there is of course the breast pump itself. I am using the Motiff Duo for my pump. I love the quietness of this pump. The fact that it is one that can be used without a plug. It has rechargeable batteries 2 pump flanges and different sizes. It has a memory setting, massage setting and the pumping setting. This pump is great! I love how sleek it is! And your insurance may cover your Motif Duo too! Click here to find a distributor to get a pump with insurance!
I love my new Motif duo pump and it works like a dream. My only criticism is that I wish there was a speed setting with the suction setting. Other than that it is a great pump! And I love it a lot more than my Ameda pump! Motif makes great breast pumps, and like I said earlier check your insurance, you may get a breast pump covered!
