Nablopomo Tuesday, Cookie jam.

I sit here typing another post for my favorite thing to do, Blogher’s Nablopomo challenges. Last month I feel I didn’t do as well as maybe I should. But, I am making up for it. I hope. Thing is there was plenty on my blog to post there, but were OOTD or DailyOutfits Nablopomo worthy? Maybe. Maybe not. But, this month is easier, as it is CHRISTMAS TIME. My most favorite time of the year. And why? Well, because FOOD. Yes, presents are great but gimme some of those sweetie treats. You know, cookies, cakes, spiked eggnog after the boy goes to bed. Wassail..Then more turkey, pies, cake, pies, cake, cookies, cupcakes, and did I say pie? PIE. Oh, and hot cocoa. Baked brie..OK. This is getting worse than look at food pins at 10 pm. Moving on.

I am trying to find a decent lemon cookie recipe. One that uses butter not shortening and I know what kind I am thinking of. I bake a lot at Christmas time, as you can see. I figured I could find the recipe in the massive library I have at home. Nope. So, online. Nope. Is the recipe on I got from mom? Maybe. I shall bombard her tomorrow.

Today, I set my sights for my December baking. I will make something and hope you all like it and hope you make it too. Sometimes baked stuff is the best stuff to give or get. Except fruit cake. No one likes you!

My reaction if I get a fruitcake.

My reaction if I get a fruitcake.

Today I made my favorite banana bread and I am making my very first lemon pound cake. wpid-20141209_161127.jpg

Um I can not wait to slice into this beast. Recipe will be at the bottom. It is a fool proof recipe. And it is so easy to make.  December is just a great time to do this kind of stuff. Take a break from all that other garbage going on and just make something. Try a new recipe and see what happens. And family make the best testers for your science experiment in the culinary arts.

Banana Bread Recipe.

2-3 ripe bananas

In a mixing bowl(almost typed bowel,I’m so sorry) mash the bananas into a smooth mix.

Stir in the melted butter, then mix in the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar and egg. Add the vanilla. Mix in the flour.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 mins. or until a tester comes out clean. Remove and cool completely on a rack.ENJOY!
