My hair care faves

hair care faves

I am just now in my 30’s(gasp) starting to love my curly mop more. As a kid it was just a puff ball of fluff. No one ever knew what to do with it as everyone else had straight hair. I got the curls. YAY? Anyways, I have had such a love hate relationship with this hair. And I said one day NO, enough.SO, I went on the good old fashioned google and pinterest to find out how to take care of this crazy a$$ mane.  And the results of that search were a lot of buzzfeed “which silmarillion character are you” quizzes and cookies. I got distracted in other words. But I didn’t give up. I found some articles on “plopping” which I still suck at, and then using a tshirt, instead of towels. So much stuff and it got overwhelming. And some things worked well and some didn’t so, today’s blog post while I try to get my little to school and get caught up on other stuff(blog) this will be a fun event. So CURLY hair ladays pull up your beach chairs(wait, who are we kidding? I know I live in FL, but, we all know I am a vampire.) pull up your picnic blanket, some off spray and hang out a while while we dive into my fave products for curly, dry, frizzy, insane, brittle hair.

And I will post links of my fave products for sure.

  Trial and error

This is my life. UGH. But with hair like mine which is Shirley Temple curls when people do not touch, and also some pieces that want to be straight. FIrst, DO NOT TOUCH. remember when the Emperor Kuzco would say “No touchy, no touch” Think of that. The oils in your hand can make your hair upset. We do not want to upset the beast. And my husband never gets that. SO my hair eats his hands. We call my hair the beast for a reason. So hands off. Which is almost impossible.

the other Trial and error was toweling. The regular terry cloth towels for our hair is a no no, apparently. And since I went microfiber and justa plane basic(hubby shirt that is old and can not be worn out of the house) I have noticed a bit of decline in frizz. WOW.

The whole way we use conditioner is different. I saw an article somewhere, cant remember I just remember cat pictures, was saying press the conditioner into your hair. Not wrangle it. SO pour conditioner in your hands and then press into wet hair. That works. For me anyways. And dried a bit in the shirt and then air dry the rest of the way. I have accepted the fact that I can not ever dry my hair with the blowdryer. OH well..

AS far as the product placement, because my scalp gets oilier and so I avoid product near the scalp. I take the product and squish it up into the ends of my hair You know those old cartoon where the ladies would put their hands under the edges of their hair and push up that, it is that. No running fingers through. NO. And spray with Living proof No frizz humidity shield.

And lastly not as much heat(bummer)

Braided at night.

And get it cut DRY, and this is something I have had trouble with. People don’t listen when asked.

And since just doing these things,  my hair has grown and looks better, although this past week and a few weeks I got out of  that habit. But realized that is why my hair was being mean.

Curly hair tips and hair care

NO poo v.s POO

Um for me, it doesn’t work. At all. No, not at all. I have tried the conditioner cleansers and um, the extra moisture mixed with the humidity no go. IT made my hair fluffy and unforgiving. So, was not good. And the other issue is my scalp gets oily and gets buildup. YUCK.So I shampoo, I just cut back on washing and invested in a dry shampoo, I like Batiste and Living Proof dry shampoo. Both are great and for different price points. Budget and non budget. Since cutting back on washing it helps the growth and my hair’s insanity.

YES.

OILS?

Oh yes, Argan and such. I use them my faves are by HASK. I am obsessed! Love love love and so far of all the ones I have used so far the HASK is my fave.

MASKS

YES, use them! There are all natural ones you can make, or for $1.99 you can get the bamboo hair mask from HASK, it smell medicinal but it works amazingly well. Of their masks for my hair it is the best.

Love heat tools? ME too, and I love ISA digital flat iron. Which I use when the weather is cooler, because humidity here in FL makes it impossible to keep it straight. SO I had to cut back also for the hair, since it is processed too. Although I really adore ISA professionals digital flat iron! The curls I get from that!

I also go as far as I can with touch ups of the roots.

SO friends there you have it, my curly hair tips and NOW here are some of my faves as far as products. GOSH this post is long, but guys I have done so much research and trial and error.

I have curly hair and the older I’ve gotten the straighter I do my hair… If you saw my natural curl, you would probably not even recognize my hair! Altho, it gets tricky in the summer when the humidity is out in full force… so, I’ll either touch up my hair or it just goes in a tight bun!! I wish I had straight hair… I really do! And, my poor daughter has curly hair, too… so, I get to mangle her hair as well as mine! I do have to agree the not poo is crazy! I have super oily hair and I need shampoo! Especially after my long half training runs!!! Need to feel clean! I haven’t tried HASK oil in my hair, but I do have a couple oils I love to use!

Hi Stephanie, I adore Batiste dry shampoo. I use it regularly and it’s my favorite dry shampoo. I think there isn’t a better dry shampoo out there. Do you agree? Angel

I love it so far! I have heard that dry bar is really good, but I like this one so I think I am going to stick with it for a bit. It is really good!
