As a lot of you know I have been dealing with depression for a while now. Years actually. And well, lately I must admit it has been a struggle to get dressed like I really want to. My depression is dictating that it would be better and easier for me just to wear the joggers, the sweat pants, and the yoga based clothes. And not in a cute Athletic wear kind of fashion way. It a I do not want to get up out of bed today kind of way. My dear friend made me more aware of it, Amy friend thank you, and then my therapist said I am really depressed. Even if I was not in tune enough with my own body and sense of self to know it.  If you read this post here, you may know if I took time for ME I would.

Depression has me in such a fashion slump that I am opting for clothes that are what should be said as “lazy” And not lazy for everyone, some people that is their fashion M.O. That is their personal style. For me though especially since Instagram stories is now reminding me, that my style is more up there. More styled and more structured. Eclectic, yes, but still so nice. What is making me choose the easy route? There are a  few things I am leaning towards. One being my health, guys this whole swelling thing thanks to DEPO is wrecking havoc, and did it’s damage. Ladies, go get your thyroid checked if you are on this med for BC. And go back to what you know what works for you! The other is my kids, they keep me up all night and I am too damn tired to get up get dressed, do my hair, and then makeup. That friends, is not me. I always do that. I always want to look good for ME. And right now my depression is like “why bother”. We will call that depression Lucy.

How to get out of this? Well for some medicine..which I did do and thought it was making me sick. Like constant car sick feeling, turns out it was my current bcp. Then Vitamins, and those made me sick. My therapist suggested find someone who you can take a bit from their book. I chose Erika Jayne why?Because of her IDGAF attitude and her ability to be always extra even when she is sick. I use that as motivation and inspiration.

This is a day though when I said no to my depression and even though it was easier to wear the joggers and an over sized sweater I decided to not only wear more color, orange and pink and red. But also to wear a skirt and not the comfy comforatbles. I made the choice and it was a good one. The Missguided skirt got a lot of compliments from people out in the stores and so did my Asos velvet kitten heels with a cute bow. (There is a redish pink pair I want that are flats!Check out that pair here.)

This outfit made me feel good and yeah a bit extra. I love it.

I love my new skirt, even though I bought it a size too big. However that being too big made it more comfortable with the swelling. I was able to just adjust my Michael Kors belt. The shoes are super comfy too by the way!

This skirt is bright and colorful, however, it is not a true velvet skirt like it is shown and listed as on Asos. It is beautiful but more of a rough satin pleat. It doesn’t have the look and the feel of the heaviness of velvet. Still I do love it! And I think this look would be perfect for any holiday party. *you know you read that in Martha Stewart’s voice….*
