Red dresses can be intimidating, but they really do not have to be. Yeah red is such a bold color. But it is a beautiful shade and worn right can be as classic as a black pencil skirt. Red is definitely one of those “take charge” colors for sure, and I do not think it gets worn enough. Red shirts, yeah sure you see those a lot, red pants even. But what about dresses? Red dresses like the Red Fishtail dress , why do they not get as much love. So Today, on Glamorousandgeeky I have teamed up with Rosegal to share how I would style a red dress so it isn’t intimidating. You will still be the center of attention, sure, but is that necessarily a bad thing? I do not think so. Be BOLD!
So what are my tips for styling this bold and beautiful statement piece? Let me share them, these basic rules are some I apply to all the dresses that I wear that are bold or really extravagant.
- Simple is sometimes the best. YES. Keep accessories simple. Especially if going to a dinner or something of that nature. Nothing wrong with some bling, but some times too much is too much. BALANCE. Wearing a bold necklace? Skip the bracelets and wear simple studs on the ears. And maybe a blingy ring on the finger.
- When in doubt animal print! Leopard print is a classic choice for a bold red fishtail dress or red in general. Leopard print tones the red down a bit especially for daytime things.
- Bold red dress, neutral lipstick. I am all for a red lip, we all know I have a lot of red lipsticks. But when wearing a bright red it may be a good idea to wear a neutral. Like Tarte’s Rose in their quick dry matte liquid formula(you can get that here)
- A statement bag. OK, this is where it gets tricky. You have the leopard shoes on. Check GOOD. But bag? I would go with a studded bag(rocker glam) to really step up the outfit. I would make sure that if my jewelry is gold, that the studs or hardware is too..
so what do you think?
